Welcome!

MyGLife community leaders are invited to use this blog to keep participants posted on animations, sims and games that students are working on individually and in teams.
This is also a great place to post tips that all students can benefit from, and for highlighting updates to the MyGLife site and wiki.

Students are encouraged to actively participate in the Blog as well. They should respond to Community leader posts, and also create their own threads when they have questions or tips for the group.

HSTA's Staying Current with Learning and Technology

With the opportunities provided to a few HSTA clubs by Globaloria and the WV Governor's office, we are able to stay current with how technology is changing human interactions in our world. Wikis and blogs are fast-becoming new tools for teachers to use in their classrooms for assignments, lectures, and collaborative projects. Once we get familiar with these tools, we can then share this knowledge with other HSTA teachers and be a part of its' evolution into classroom applications.

The computer gaming software we have been provided is a bit more complex. While we struggle to get familiar with all that FLASH and PHOTOSHOP can do, our HSTA students are soon to be 3-steps ahead of teachers, honing their computer skills in a fun, entertaining way. Let's not forget to tell students how VALUABLE these skills will be later on when they are in college and job hunting...

Personally, I am very excited to observe how the gaming designs focus on health and enhance metacognitive learning, for not only the student designer, but also for the audience who will play the game.

Two important events are scheduled for the HSTA clubs to showcase their work: 1) Sometime during the week of December 11-14, we want to schedule a Web-camera event where Man HS HSTA students share their design ideas with Capital HS HSTA students. I'll be in touch with details about that. 2) The 12th Annual HSTA Symposium on April 19th will be an opportunity to showcase your finished product to lots of other HSTA students.

These are exciting events to look forward to!
